Touch
The trunk is a super-sensitive tool, used for touching, exploring, and picking objects. It detects vibrations in the ground to sense movements.
Sight
The least developed sense. Limited color vision and lower resolution — yet enough for daily survival and recognizing surroundings.
Smell
The most powerful sense among elephants. They possess more scent receptors than any other mammal. Their trunks detect food, water, other elephants, and even humans.
Hearing
Exceptional hearing — they can detect infrasound (low-frequency sounds) for long-distance communication. They also hear through seismic vibrations transmitted through the ground.
Taste
Good sense of taste — taste buds help them assess the quality and safety of potential food items such as grass, fruits, and leaves.
